Yes, you can be addicted to anything--but that doesn't mean you denigrate the source of the addiction.

The only reason she would denigrate the source of an addiction for some people is because in my opinion; she feels in some way responsible. Although LLB has said her books are pretty tame so I'm not clear on the guilt factor unless her duties as the RWA President had her more involved in promoting the reading material she so detests.

Needless to say I think her intentions; however warped in the minds of some; are pure.
