Dena -
I'm going to repeat here what I posted elsewhere on this thread. I went through all our Hatcher reviews. None of her non-inspirational books had a sensuality rating beyond "subtle," and the one series title we reviewed was "kisses." So I have a problem w/her saying her editors forced her to write love scenes. Both Harlequin and Silhouette have series lines that are as chaste as any young adult novel, and the book we gave her DIK status for probably had a minimal love scene at most.
So I'm wondering where she's coming from since it's obvious to me that an author can write and sell romances w/nary more than a kiss.
The feeling I got from reading the article and visiting her site is that she was pressured into taking such a stand by her church. On the other hand, a good friend of mine felt she took the stand for commercial reasons and that if she didn't, she might have "romance novelist" biting her on the butt as she tried to sell in Christian bookstores and church bookstores. If either are true, it's a sad commentary. If neither is true, than I'm baffled.
