About Me |
I am a spoiler junkie, book skimmer, and end reader. The
first thing I do before reading or buying any book is read the final
pages, because, for me, the fun is in the journey and not the
destination.
I don't remember learning to read, but have vague memories of
being able to read in pre-school and ever since then always having
a pile of books around. I have yet to find a bookstore or library I
didn't like, but for the longest time I was a cautious reader
sticking to the tried and true or assigned reading. Then my first
week in college I heard this girl down the hall making all this
noise: laughing, squealing, shrieking, and I wondered what the heck was
going on. Well, she handed over Jude Deveraux's A Knight in Shining
Armor, and I stayed up all night reading it. From that day forward I
was a romance reader.
I started out slowly with Deveraux, Judith McNaught, and Sandra
Brown (authors who still grace my keeper shelves, but sadly not my
auto-buy list). My current favorite authors (and this is subject to
change with each new discovery) are: Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb, Suzanne
Brockmann, Gayle Wilson (a buried treasure I recommend to everyone),
Mary Jo Putney, Linda Howard, Jennifer Crusie, Diana Gabaldon, Dee
Henderson, Tracy Grant, Kathleen Korbel, and Lorraine Heath. I know
I've left off authors, but if I put everyone down this list would be endless.
My interests outside of reading are: travel, though I prefer
having travelled as opposed to actual travelling, going to the
movies (comedy or action), watching tv (I avoid reality shows like
the plague), listening to music (country and top 40), and writing.
Beyond that I live in Colorado, have a very spoilt and pampered cat,
and - when I'm not working - I like to spend time with friends.

Personal Reading Tastes |
What I'm a sucker for in a book: Wounded heroes and sickbed
scenes, romantic suspense, witty heroines, wallflower/bookworm
heroines, overweight heroines, reunion stories (especially where one
character has been presumed dead), and English settings.
What I don't particularly care for in a book: Historical
inaccuracies, wallpaper historicals, marriages of convenience,
characters forced together by a will, and books written from the
first-person point of view.
What drives me absolutely nuts in a book: Immaculate
conceptions, heroines who are still virgins despite being married,
long separations, characters who hold a grudge the entire book, "I
love you, I hate you, I love you, let's have sex, I hate you, hate
you, hate you . .. oh, wait, I love you" stories, cruel heroes, TSTL
heroines, georgraphical errors, and whiny characters.
