The Annual Poll is done and I'm sure it's okay to post the books we chose in the different fields. Usually, mine don't place and I'm sure there are others who are in the same boat. That's why it's fun to see the choices everyone made because not all our favorites will make the top spots in the poll. I only voted in eight categories.

Best romance... Redwood Bend | Robyn Carr
Fav funny... I've Got Your Number | Sophie Kinsella
Best historical... The Proposal | Mary Balogh
Best contemp... Where We Belong | Emily Giffin
Best rom susp... Gone Missing | Linda Castillo
Best inspir... The Wedding Dress | Rachel Hauck
Best chick lit... Wife 22 | Melanie Gideon
Most disappoint... About That Night | Julie James (because she can do so much better)

Best romance - At your Pleasure, Meredith Duran
Best historical - ditto
Best contemporary - Easy, Tammara Webber (yeah, it's YA, but I liked it better than anything else)
Best erotica - The Bride of Larkspear, Sherry Thomas
Best historical not in UK - Beautiful Bad Man, Ellen O'Connell
Best hero - Lucas, Easy
Most tortured hero - Sam, Beautiful Bad Man, Ellen O'Connell
Best couple - Beautiful Bad Man, Ellen O'Connell
Best category - Suddenly You, Sarah Mayberry
Best short story - The Governess Affair, Courtney Milan
Best debut author - Cecilia Grant

Didn't read any romantic suspense or paranormals that stood out this year Sad

If there was "author most glommed" it'd be Sarah Mayberry and Kate Pearce.

My ballot was very m/m top heavy so I don't expect any to show up except the Grant and maybe Mayberry (but she wrote several good ones so she probably splits her own vote.

Best romance - Bonds Of Earth, G.N. Chevalier
Best historical - Bonds Of Earth, G.N. Chevalier
Best contemporary - Gives Light, Rose Christo (YA)
Best comedy: Tigerland, Sean Kennedy (though I think I mistakenly put down Tigers & Devils)
Best historical not in UK - Bonds Of Earth, G.N. Chevalier
Best historical in UK - Lady Awakened, Celia Grant
Best hero - Skylar, Gives Light, Rose Christo
Most tortured hero - Michael, Bonds Of Earth, G.N. Chevalier
Best couple - Skylar & Raphael
Best category - Her Best Worst Mistake, Sarah Mayberry
Best short story: Things Unseen & Deadly, Ginn Hale, The Irregulars
Best romantic suspense: Diversion, Eden Winters
Best PNR: Timeless, Gail Carriger

No inspirational (didn't read), chick lit/women's fic (didn't read enough) or books to feel guilty about liking.

I didn't read that many romances published in 2012 but chose my favourites anyway:

Best romance: A Lady Awakened | Cecilia Grant
Favourite Funny: Captain Vorpatril's alliance | Lois Mcmaster Bujold
Favourite Tearjerker: The Sleeping Night | Barbara Samuel
Best erotica: Bride of Larkspur | Sherry Thomas
Best Kick-ass heroine: Andrea Nash from Gunmetal Magic | Ilona Andrews
Best hero: Adam Sylvaine from A Notorious Countess Confesses | Julie Anne Long
Best heroine: Martha from A Lady Awakened | Cecilia Grant
Best couple: Martha and Theo from A Lady Awakened | Cecilia Grant
Best debut author: Cecilia Grant
Guiltiest pleasure romance: The Edge of Never | J Redmerski
Best historical set in the UK: A Lady Awakened | Cecilia Grant
Best paranormal: Archangel's Storm | Nalini Singh

Usually my favourite hero and heroine are from my favourite romance, but this year, my favourite hero was Adam from A Notorious Countess Confesses. I just liked A Lady Awakened a little better as a favourite romance from 2012 (my criteria is it's the most re-read romance I had from 2012).

Wow we agree on many. Fav Funny , Best contempt, and most disappointing. In fact I am not even looking forward to Julie James new release this spring.

Redwood Bend is not my favorite of the Virgin River series, but I only read it once. I might like it more on the second read.

Since we agree on so many I am off to check out Wife 22.

Is Lady Awakened a 2012 or 2011 release? I read it this year, but I thought it came out toward the end of 2011 and wasn't sure what year it should be counted in. Maybe I'm confused by early pre-release reviews?

Appending with my own answer: Amazon shows US release date as December 27th, but the copyright is 2012, so I guess it does count as a 2012 book.

Thanks, Tee and all, for this post which I'm really enjoying. I look forward to the AAR poll results but it's also great to see what other books were nominated that might not make it to the finals that were tops with readers here. It also reminded me to add to my already overloaded TBR list. Confused Wait, what I meant of course was Smile
