|
|
This question has been on my mind for a while [since I finally realized I actually have a favorite book cover] and it kind of goes along with the "Buying romances for aesthetic reasons?" thread.
We often talk about favorite books, authors, plots, genres, etc. but DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE BOOK COVER - unconnected to the story itself?
Even though Harlequin photo covers of young hunks is almost always pleasing I love the drawn covers on vintage books. Here is my all-time favorite book cover:
Ironically, the cover of the very next book this author wrote has a couple that looks very much like the one on this cover - they look like the same models to me.

What is your favorite book cover?
P.S. www.fictiondb.com almost always has a picture of the book cover, in addition to synopsis, even vintage books; and often has one of each cover version. _________________ Close-Up Merman's Kiss http://th06.deviantart.net/fs10/300W/i/2006/102/5/b/A_Merman__s_Kiss_Detail_by_Barbiedoll.jpg http://images.epilogue.net/users/emerald/mermans_kiss_emerald2006.jpg |

For me, it's still from the The Duchess of Fifth Avenue by Ruth Ryan Langan in 2006.

My very favourite cover. The image does match the description of the hero, Joe Mackenzie, in the book.

| How do I add the picture here? I tried to copy and paste it, but it didn't work. |

Would have bought this for the cover alone but the book was excellent!

I love many of the SIM covers from the early 90s. Two of my favorites are
Without Price by Dee Holmes:
and
Run to the Moon by Sandy Steen:
I also really like the Carina cover of Shannon Stacey's Exclusively Yours:

Kata, I downloaded the images and then put them in my photobucket account. You need to use tags:
(I'm not sure what AARs policy is regarding hotlinking and was too lazy to read the terms of service.) |

My favorite is the hardback cover for Sarah Addison Allen's Sugar Queen. I think all of her covers are really nice.

| My fav covers are Lord of Fire and Lord of Ice by Gaelen Foley. I don't have the images but they are at Amazon. They are pictures of estates. |

I don't. I think they are staying the same, but with more color. The cover of Sugar Queen is gorgeous. Romance novel covers, generally are not that tasteful. There is improvement to be made, but I'm not holding my breath. _________________ "As you wish"

I love the hand drawn covers, especially those like the 1950s-60s Mary Stewarts
And those by Francis Marhsall for Barabra Cartland (who I don't read)

A classic for a classic
Patricia McKillip covers
I already owned a copy, the dress doesn't fit the title or character but I bought the new edition anyway
Gorgeous atmospheric cover (for a great book) in a genre with a lot of shlock covers
