I hope you can help identify the following book:

blueotter says:
Hey- I asked about this book a few years ago and I am still looking! It is a historical and I believe the h has a sister who had her own book. The sister takes the heroine to a party that is either a masquerade or of a naughty nature and she goes, finds the hero there, they fool around or kiss or something before he realizes that she is a proper gentlewoman and he takes her back to her sister. At some.point she goes to another one of these balls. Any ideas?

IIRC, the sister goes to these balls with her husband, but he was busy, and since it was a masquerade, the sister let her have some fun and join. The hero, once he discovers that the heroine is an innocent, wants her out of the party and wants her never to go to one of these again. And I think later in the book, she goes out again, disguised, and he recognizes her. I don't remember much else, I think I read it in 2007 or 8

Could it be one of these two books? I read them both at the same time so I may be mixing some of the plot elements.

Being Wicked by Lucy Danes

Argh, I've definitely read it but can't call anything to mind other than what's already described.

This sounds likes An Affair Most Wicked by Julianne MacLean. I know it was said that she read it in 2008-2009, but this one came out in 2004. It's the second book in her American Heiress series. Clara, the h, accidentally goes to the wrong ball with her chaperon. When they get there, they are to put on masks. She meets the H, Seger, there and they share a dance. After the dance, they go someplace private and share a few heated kisses. Then he suggests they go to a room before they are all occupied. She asks him why would they do that and then he realizes she's an innocent and tells her to leave. She finally gets to the correct ball to meet up with her sister. Back at home she tells Sophia what happened. Her sister, Sophia, whose book is To Marry the Duke, tells her that those parties are for those people want to have affairs. Clara tells her sister that she can't stop thinking of Seger and eventually they go back to another one of those balls, in disguise, to see if Seger will show up again. I hope this sounds familiar Wink

Sounds like Gaelen Foley's Lord of Fire. It got a B+ review here.

I don't know if it's the original poster's book, but AAMW was the one I was thinking of. Thanks BEB! That was driving me nuts.

(I'm pretty Lord of Fire is a different scenario.)

Lord Of Fire by Gaelen Foley is not it says the OP.

Someone else also suggested An Affair Most Wicked and we are still waiting for the confirmation from the OP.

Thank you very much for trying to help.

I think Jade Lee wrote a book with this plot. I just can't remember the title.

I'm glad that we were able to help out. An Affair Most Wicked is one of my favorite books by Julianne MacLean. Lord Of Fire by Gaelen Foley is also an excellent book.
