Well, things will always work or not work for different people. I just felt like Philippa was... fine. And I was hoping for more than that for Lymond.

No, I definitely didn't want to see him with Oonagh - I despised her! Of all the people, I actually would have matched him with Christian. I thought she was incredibly courageous and intelligent, and talk about loyalty! I was crushed when she died at the end of the first book. Maybe I never got into Philippa because I never got over Christian.

As for why I care that she's a virgin, I care because the book cares. I thought it was a significant part of why she broke down after bargaining for the document, and also why Lymond reacted the way he did.
