Claire: I don't think she has a day job, maybe her husband earns enough for her not to work and to write at her own pace.
I know it's very frustrating to wait so long for a new novel especially when it's connected with the previous ones (although not strictly a series or is it?) and I know that some of the readers gave up on her and say that they moved on to other authors and will boycotte her books.
I know for myself that I will buy her book whenever it will come out. For me she has a very unique voice that will not be replaced by any other author. |

Yes, I agree. Of course I would like her to write faster, but she doesn't, and that still not a reason for me to stop reading her. I have a few reasons to stop reading an author. Not writing fast enough is not one of them. I look forward to her next book, but it's not like I have nothing to read until then. I quite a huge TBR pile that I'm sure it will keep me busy in the meantime. _________________ "As you wish"

I would rather a writer take her time and give us the best story she can produce than rushing though it or working without her muse to produce something boring.
Many of my "used to be" favorite authors have been guilty of not making the effort, of just rehashing old plots and putting them out there. BORING! |

Xina, I feel the same way, in fact there are authors out there that I think push their books out too fast and they suffer for it. It's not going to be every author's nature to write quickly and it would be counter-productive to rush them.

I just checked LV's website and it's updated as of May 2012!
She says Primrose is going to be finished soon. I cannot wait!.
Linda and Xina: hey you guys, I see we were on the same page even then |

LOL...What Linda said.
I'm so happy to hear this! I hope "soon" means in 2012. _________________ "As you wish"

I browsed around her website and she spelled Jane Austen as "Jane Austin".
This strikes me as almost as funny as the awkward porn in the sample chapter of her next book. Which has been "coming soon" for how many years now, ten? |

Hey, Jaime, was the purpose of your post to shame us, Valdez fans who look forward to her next release?
Well, I am a die-hard Jane Austen fan and have slipped 'Austin' once or twice in emails to friends.
'Awkward porn' or not, I am looking forward to her book like crazy and will snatch it up the moment it becomes available.
I will not, though, go to a thread where someone posted an excerpt of a book she is looking forward to and try to denigrate it based on the said excerpt. I will just think to myself, 'O well, tastes differ'. |

Hey, Mirole, no, the purpose was to make fun of Valdez' writing which I find truly awful. It's my opinion and you don't have to pay any attention to it. Or take it as a personal slight against yourself. |

I've never read Jane Austen/Austin (whatever) and probably never will, I could care less if Valdez made an error in spelling on her website. I sure wouldn't be one to make fun of others over spelling errors, I'm no shining example of perfection myself.

I didn't find her writing awkward (I hesitate to call it "porn"). As for the spelling error, I see authors do it all the time. Whether that was a typo or what, who cares? _________________ "As you wish"

This is one case where I will have to disagree. I view the author's website as her public face. While we all make mistakes, the correct spelling of a classic author's name is easy to determine with a quick Internet search, and I'm sure a number of people have pointed out the error. I therefore take it as a lack of respect for her readers or for the author who laid much of the groundwork for those who came after her, that I do care that it has not been corrected. If this were a labor-intensive change I'd be more sympathetic because I know how Life intervenes (sick children, overtime at the day job, etc), but this is so very simple that there does not appear to be an excuse not to fix it.
Please note that my comment does not relate at all to Ms. Valdez's books. I haven't read them so have no comment about the quality of her work. I did not find the excerpts appealing, but that just means they did not appeal to me, and we all know how individual our tastes in reading are. |

I just think that some authors don't spend a lot of time on their websites. Maybe she is one of those authors and hasn't seen the error. At any rate, I enjoy her work, so I'm not holding it against her, but I can see where it might bother others. Obviously she's not reading this board...LOL, otherwise she woud have corrected. _________________ "As you wish"
