I'd love to know what they are filming now. Weren't they supposed to start at the beginning of November? It's supposed to start right where it left off. I'm wondering how the Sophie Anne and Bill fight will end up. Also,
I wonder if they are going to do the Eric running naked scene and the amnesia. I'd love to see that! |

Too funny, Claire! Especially since I got my son the grey Bon Temps Football T-shirt! I really questioned whether he'd wear it, but it just looks like an old t-shirt. And if you're not a fan of the show, it just comes off as any old small town football shirt! He's already worn it, it was very amusing!
P.S. I'm already done w/Book 5 and I started on Book 6. I was gonna take a breather between books, but that last book introduced Quinn. And that got me thinking...if Alcide looks this good on the TV show, who are they gonna get to play Quinn? _________________ Why put off til tomorrow what you can put off until next week? |

Ok ladies... I'm now very familiar with all three seasons of True Blood and I just reread Dead to the World (the Eric book) and I need some help with the later Sookie books. I think I read somewhere that the next book doesn't have a lot of Eric in it. Is that true? Are there any other good Bill or Eric books coming up in the series that you can recommend?
I think I've got to the point where I want Sookie to have the amnesia storyline with Eric but get back with Bill eventually and forever. I don't know if I can have my cake and it eat it too though. After watching the first two seasons, the Bill and Sookie love story is just too compelling to all be over. Maybe its because they did such a good job acting (or maybe they weren't acting and that's why) but I have a hard time just letting go and letting her move on with Eric so easily. However, the show is so good, maybe they can convince me. Hopefully they won't assasinate Bill's character. Also, I hope they do the amnesia story because I am sooo looking forward to a more vunerable Eric. Can you imagine??
I also wanted to pull this thread up to say there are 129 days until the new season starts! |

Claire, honestly I forget how much Eric is in the next book but I don't remember not enjoying it, so you should be just fine. Sadly though, Bill will become almost non-existent in the books for a while and only in the latest one seems to make somewhat of a comeback. I was pretty peeved with CH for a while, it seemed like she completely lost interest in his character. Don't get me wrong, I like Eric as well but like you I want to have my cake and eat it too, lol
The books worked better for me when I did a reread of them in one long stretch, rather than having to wait a year in between.
I've already got June 12th marked on my calender!

Eric is in key parts of the next book, but not on a daily basis. He knows there's things he doesn't remember from Book 4 and that plays into his interactions with Sookie when he does show up in the story. I found that he was even less of a player in Book 6 when Sookie goes to New Orleans.
I'm now reading Book 7 and he's in it more. I'm finding that since I saw the show before reading the books, I'm more partial to Bill. I also think that I'm biased b/c the actors that play Sookie and Bill are married in real life, I'm tending to lean more towards them as a couple.
Bring on June 12th! It'll be nice to be rid of all this east coast weather and soak up the residents of Bon Temps again...Alcide better not be wearin' a shirt either! _________________ Why put off til tomorrow what you can put off until next week? |

I read the books before seeing the first season, but not much before the HBO start of the series. I think I had finished most of the books available and then watched the 1st season on DVD. I thought....as I was watching the 1st season, that I would always be a Bill fan, but I am all about Eric and Sookie now. Knowing that "Bill and Sookie" are married in real life may help. Bill gets her as his love in the long run...er, not Bill, but Stephen gets Anna...in the end. _________________ "As you wish"

I'm so sad to read that there will only be two more Sookie books, there are so few series anymore that I really look forward to and this was one of them. It will be interesting to read how she brings Sookie to a HEA, though they are not romance I can't imagine her leaving us in the dark.

I had read that a while back. In 2009, at Comic Con in San Diego, Harris had said she was originally only under contract for 10 books. I got the impression that it was really more her that wanted to stop the series and not the publisher. She eventually signed on for three more books, the first of which is due this year.
I'm up to Book 8-9 now and I'm already considering a re-read! I feel like since I've glommed them these past few months, in my memory, things from one book have bled (pun intended!) into another, so I can only recall events sometimes and I can't recall exactly what book it was! It really will be interesting to see how CH wraps up the series b/c there's so much water under the bridge...and I haven't even read them all yet! _________________ Why put off til tomorrow what you can put off until next week? |

jebe - I've been thinking about a reread too, although it wasn't that long ago that I did one. There are just very few books out there that I can get so completely absorbed in. It felt like a punch in the gut to hear they were coming to an end so soon. Ah well! I'm thankful we got what we got and a terrific tv series to boot. I hope the series lasts a while longer in any case, there's lots to look forward to there.

Who do you think she will have Sookie end up with based on what you've read? I wonder if her writing has been affected by the series and if the series will follow what she does or if it will be go its own way. Hopefully it will be around that long. By that, I just mean I'm worried some of the cast will want to go on to bigger things.
I saw a youtube of an old ComicCon panel and when asked what her favorite episode was, she said the one, Sparks Fly Out (if I remember correctly). I saw it afterward and it was the one where Sookie dreams about Eric for the first time. She doesn't mention that scene but I can't help but wonder if thats why. The series seems to have placed Bill front and center though (so far )and Alan Ball seems to really like his character and has made it more. I think he's been a master at making this a great love triangle. This is going to be an Eric/Sookie season I think. I have scenes in my mind I can't wait to see with those two. That book is def my favorite of the ones I've read so far. In the books, Bill isn't near what he is on the show, for me. Does he come back as a contender in the books? I think there are some other guys too right? Like Sam and Quinn?? |

Bill's only barely just coming back to some page time in the books and even then I wouldn't say he's a contender for Sookie's heart. Right now it seems to be Eric/Sookie all the way. If there really is only two left I'm not sure what can be or will be done, I guess we'll know half of that in May when Dead Reckoning hits.
I think Quinn is pretty much gone from the picture and I don't see Sam as a contender for Sookie's affections, at least not in the books.

Here's a link that has a story much better than I can tell it. Alert: it has spoilers... A few interesting things...Pam and Tara will get to work together...the biggest thing to come out of the night though has to do with Eric and Sookie.. While Paquin was being coy on whether Sookie will act on her attraction to Eric, Skarsgard mouths "it happens"
