At this point, I rarely pay any attention to authors blurbs on books. I find it hard to differentiate between a solid recommendation or just a friend doing a friend a favor by honoring that author with a blurb. I have the same problem reading blogs where authors pal around. And quite frankly, if I were an author and had a good friend who was an author, I might be advocating their work too. On the one hand, I may really like their books but on the other hand, I may just be a loyal friend and may have formed my opinion through rose colored glasses. I don't bother wondering anymore because I never let those blurbs influence me.
