Found while looking for something else:
History of St. Andrews
By Charles Jobson Lyon
p.403
Balfour's Annals, 1640, states that Patrick Leslie, 2nd lord Lindores, died. He was never married but left sixty-seven base children, sons and daughters. |

Wow!
I'm curious, since there was a mention of this in the Annals is there some presumption that Lord Lindores had made some provision for them at his death? or is this juicy tidbit just a FYI note to readers... _________________ When in doubt, read. |

The author said that Lindores was "a most Vitious man" who "dissipated" the estates.
My suspicion is that he had provided for them during his lifetime.
The title went to his younger brother. |

No wonder...he never had time to look after them, did he? Too busy looking for the next woman, ya know. _________________ Reality has a well-known liberal bias.

The rakes in the romances usually know more about contraception than modern men... maybe one illegitimate kid but that's about it |
