The two young men that were towards the front, to either side of David Cook are his old bandmates/friends from the band he belonged to back in Oklahoma, the Midwest Kings. The blonde is Neil Tiemann, who was the lead songwriter and backup vocalist in that former group, and the thin brunette is Andy Skib who was the lead vocalist. David was the bassist and backup vocalist. So, DC incorporated those two into his new band. I think Tiemann helped to put DC's album together while he was on tour for Idol.

The long curly haired guy and the drummer are new. They auditioned to be in David's band towards the end of the Idol tour.[/quote]

Thanks Sandlynn! I have say....The Midwest Kings is sort of a lame name for a band. Laughing However, I think it's great they could stay together. They looked and sounded really wonderful, so apparently, they work well together! It's hard to imagine that Cook wasn't the lead vocalist in his band!

I've heard it too Tee, and agree that it was good. I sort of wish I didn't have the picture of him in my mind. I can't help but see him on that stage looking dejected. Oh well..... his song did sound good!

I had his image in mind, too, xina, when I was listening to it. I suppose that was only natural. But he sounded strong and delivered a song that was a bit more upbeat than he usually performed on the American Idol stage.

There's going to be a lot of David Cook news and appearances since his album is debuting next week.

And here's one of the more interesting appearances:

David Cook both performed and presented at Glamour Magazine's Women of the Year Event in New York City the evening of November 10, 2008. The big star of the night was Hillary Clinton and apparently he was a part of that presentation since she claims to be an American Idol fan.

There's a video on this page where many ladies who attended are interviewed, including Condeleeza Rice, but towards the end we see Hillary, the interviewer, and a little known singer. Who could that guy be? Heh.

******
According to his official fan web site, he sang an acoustic version of "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" because it's Hillary's favorite. (Her and Simon Cowell, I guess.Wink

Ahhh, to be a prepubescent girl again! (Or -- thank god -- not!)

From EW's popwatch blog, one amusingly, "totally devastating," my life is over video.

Oh, Sandlynn, watching that video was so fun. They'll get over it. Later in the clip, it was interesting to watch how the girls adapted to the news in different ways. The first one to sit on the couch seemed to accept reality a bit easier than the others. Then another one joined her there and both appeared to be looking at the over-emotional ones with questioning faces at times. Ah, life--and our reactions to it. Always captivating.

David's whole CD is on this site, if you want to preview it.

It's under "latest on demand"
http://www.iheartmusic.com/main.html

I think I like "Bar-ba-sol," "Lie," and "Permanent." The latter of which is a song about his brother Adam.

Oh, supposedly, there's a bonus song on here after "A Daily Anthem," which isn't listed.

Okay, this is cool. It's on the Good Morning America site, in the article they have on David Cook in light of his appearance tomorrow (11/17) on their morning show as a part of their fall concert series. It looks like Cook and band are going to Iraq in January.

It's on the second page of the article.

Quote:
Cook and his band will play for U.S. troops in Iraq in January, then head out on a U.S. tour and later overseas.

Am I the first one here to buy David Cook's new album???? Love it. Just got it today (at Target for only 9 bucks). Great voice...and darn it, he looks cute in his pictures. He's really cleaned up into a rock star. Good start for this talented musician.

I bought one too, and I'll probably buy one for my neice for X-mas.

And, speaking of X-mas, did you all see David Cook perform, with one of his band members (and old friend) at last night's lighting of the X-mas tree at Rockefeller Center on NBC. He performed John Lennon's "Happy Christmas" and did a wonderful job. Here's the link:

Earlier, during the NY station's local broadcast, he performed "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." Here that is:

Oh, and something somewhat random. On Canada's version of "So You Think You Can Dance," a couple did a lovely dance to David Cook's song "Permanent," that's on his new album. It's at about 3:10 on this video:

And finally, for the most random thing yet! David's on the cover of the 2009 World Almanac with Barack Obama, John McCain, and the Summer Olympics.

Thanks for all the links Sandlyn. Interesting about him being on the World Almanac! So, do you like his cd? I do, but I am not a fan of song after song being a soaring ballad. I wish they would have broken it up with something more challenging. I guess I like my rock a bit darker, but I'm still sticking with him. Good cd, for the most part. I hope he grows a little more though. I have enjoyed his various appearances on talk shows and such.

Xina, I do like DC's CD ... heh. I especially like "Lie," "Permanent," and "Bar-ba-sol." I also bought copies for my two neices which I'm sure helped these numbers:

According to DC's official website, a fan posted that his CD has spent:

Quote:
Five out of six weeks in the top 10 [of albums sold on the charts]. Five out of six weeks with 6-figure sales. Gold in four, and well over 800K to end the year....

816,048 to be precise.

So, he's doing very well as a new artist. His CD is already gold and is less than 200,000 from platinum, which should be coming in the next couple of months. His coronation single, "Time of My Life" is already platiunum and his single, "Light On" is close to going gold.

It sounds like we backed the right horse.

Oh, and he's performing tonight on FOX's New Years Eve show from Vegas which starts at 11:00 p.m.
