Can someone recommend good used books stores for romances in London? I'll be visiting there in August. Also, where can I buy CD books? I'll be staying near Victoria station, so it would be nice if the shops were near that area.

KataO: I usually find some good used books at Oxfam shops or other charity shops. There is one shop not too far from Victoria Station. You can look up locations here: http://www.oxfam.org.uk/shop/local-shops

Charing Cross Road in central London (between Leicester Square and Tottenham Court Road underground stations) is chock full of bookstores, both new and used. There used to be a great romance focused bookstore there, but it closed a few years ago.

The various charity shops are often a good bet for used books of any kind, including romances, as well.

KataO: I go to London every year and each time go book-hunting.

I cannot say that their second-hand bookshops are good for romance but I buy lots of books anyway mostly literary fiction with romantic elements and lots of historical fiction and non-fiction. I don't even remember ever seeing romance books separately shelved.

My favourite shops are Henry Pordes books on Charing Cross Road (go to the basement):

and Skoob Books which is very close to Russell Square hence to the British Museum, it's located in the basement of the Bruswick shopping centre (you have to go to the very end and pass through a huge Waitrose supermarket) and it's very big:

Happy book hunting!
