Anyone else watch this?

5 seasons in and I have just discovered this show, I am hooked! I watched the first season online via Amazon Prime's free instant viewing and went out and bought all 4 seasons on DVD from Ebay, lol.

Love me some Jax!!

Hi Linda, I guess no one else watches SOA but you and I. Not sure if you still check this thread -- but did you see the season finale tonight? If so, what do you think?

I can't believe I am saying this but I felt a little (just a little) sorry for Clay. He looked so shocked and devasted when he realize that both juice and Gemma betrayed him. And Tara, honestly i didn't see the arrest coming, yes I know Gemma threatened to turn her in but just didn't think it would happen. Jax didn't do a thing when she got arrested, figured he's pissed at her for wanting to take his boys away. I like Tara, sometimes I cannot stand Gemma. I am nervous for Jax with this Pope killing. You know in next season it will eventually come out that Jax was the one to actually set up the killing.

Anyway, what do you think?

I started watching this season to,so am very late to the party, so there are many things that can be a bit confusing for me. But I have realllllly enjoyed this season! It surely can be a bit hard to watch sometimes though LOL (the tongue...yikes!!).

I too almost felt a little sorry for Clay. He was so devastated. I did not see the Tara arrest coming either. It almost left it as anyone's guess as to who turned her in. Gemma? Or maybe even Jax who was engineering all that had gone down.

Next season, it will probably wind up being someone different and more expendable who actually is behind her arrest. No pun intended. I cannot wait for the new season now. How will Clay survive prison with the hit on him, how will Tara get out and what will happen then? Though I haven't seen the earlier years, it seems during this one that Jax is getting more and more hardened. How will he be after all this?

My son has the first couple of seasons on DVD. I'm going to try to catch up before the new one starts.

P.S. LINDA- thanks for the heads-up about the book Undeniable. I read it and really enjoyed it. Can't wait for the next two! If you come across anymore like it, keep us informed!! It reminded me a lot of SOA!

Vol Fan - are you a member of Amazon Prime by chance? They have all four seasons of SOA free to watch for prime members. Season 3 finale is one of the best hours on tv ever!

OMG I just watched the last ep, I love this show! I'm so glad that Jax killed Pope, I had hope he was making moves towards that all along and I just knew he really wouldn't turn over Tig, but there is always that niggle of doubt until it plays out. Jax has turned into a very smart leader, definitely more ruthless. So different from the Jax we met season 1, the progression of his character has been brilliant.

Would you think me a bad person if I said I wouldn't miss Tara's pouting face and she can stay in jail for half of next season for all I care. Razz

Clay, I did feel a tiny bit sorry for him but the things he has done int he past. If the writers are going to insist on keeping him alive (while we lost our precious Opie) then I'm glad he is suffering severe repercussions.

I've never been a huge Gemma fan but you know, I admire her strength and the way she handled this with Tara, if she was indeed the one that instigated this, I would have to say well played. I find her character has been the most consistent from the beginning until now.

Bobby - pffft!! I'm ticked at him for tipping Clay off and he can ride off to wherever.

Poor Juice, I hope they don't kill him off.

You know it bugs me that we lost Opie and Half Sac and yet what do we have filling up space? The dumb curly headed guy that seems to serve no purpose whatsoever. I would like to see the members lost replaced with equally compelling characters.

I'm glad Otto bit his tongue off, it's always seemed overly indulgent for Kurt Sutter to be playing his own part in this series, I not miss him on screen.

Came across this older pic of Jax, miss the long hair!

Vol Fan - I have missed more than few episodes in each season. And I did get a little lost but was able to catch up. If you can, try and watch the past seasons. This is a great show.

I agree with you Jax has hardened - I just don't want him turning into Clay. Clay is just evil. And yes some of the scenes are hard to watch. I had to turn away when Opie was beatened

Linda, my girlfriend and her hubby watch SOA also and she feels the same as you about Tara. I do like Tara but you are right she does have a sour look all the time. She doesn't show much emotion, she never really smiles. I wondered in the beginning what about her Jax fell in love with. I'm not happy she wants to take the boys away, but then I can understand too.

I was ticked at what Bobby did and I was happy that Jax killed Pope. I wonder who rat on Tara? I don't think Jax would do it - and I not sure if Gemma was the one either.

I can't wait for next season - just way too long, September.

Debbie - the easy answer is that Gemma ratted Tara out but maybe that's too easy! hmmmm! Gemma would have to follow that through with testimony I imagine and that would not go over well with Jax. Maybe it's the ex-Marshall guy in a last ditch effort to hold her accountable since Otto bit off his tongue? ewwww!

Tara - yeah, she's very monotone in her facial expression and dialog. I really liked her the first few years but lately I think the constant frowny face is wearing thin. You know she said she wanted Jax and all that came with it but she's been nothing but miserable. I also don't understand, didn't she lie to Jax about seeing otto that first time?

The only part I didn't like about the finale was the dog fighting, I'm going to admit I ff'd the DVR through that point until the guy brought the dog that lost outside and was going to shoot him. I just could not watch the fighting scenes, it's so cruel to do this to animals.

I agree with you that I don't want Jax to get to be too mean, I don't want that chair to turn him into another Clay either. There is a fine line and maybe that's what next season will focus on.

I'm really enjoying the clips of Justified during the breaks, can't wait for that one to start up on Jan! FX rocks!

Linda, I thought it could be the Marshall that ratted on Tara, we'll just have to wait for next season.

I know you are not a fan of Tara, I don't always like everything she does but I feel she's been supporting and has been at Jax side. I think Tara loves being a surgeon and it was hard for her when she lost the use of her hand for so,long. Here she has an opportunity to be a surgeon again but away fron Charming - she wants to do it - but torn too. In next season, I wonder how Jax is going to deal with her and the arrest. Is he going to stick by her or keep away? I want them together. I never liked when he cheated.

Oh yes, I did not like the dog fighting. I turned away and when the guy took the injured dog out to shoot it I covered my eyes. I don't like Tigs but I saw this caring soft side of him that made me start to like him a little. I love the scene where he's holding the dog in his lap - love that.

Btw, I also like the longer hair on Jax.

Have you watched all the Justified seasons? I watched some eps. in the first seasom then stopped. It's a good show too and I think Timothy Olyphant is another cutie. Would I be able to start up watching again or would I be too confused?

Debbie, I think you could pick right up with the new season with Justified. Each season has it's own arc and there is some progression each year but its not as deeply entrenched as it is on other shows. Oh my how I love me some Raylan!

Regarding Tara, you are right that she's stuck by Jax's side, even when he tried to drive her away. She should definitely continue on with being a surgeon, wherever that takes her. I think how she handled things with Jax was the wrong way to go about it, to say I'm taking the kids and leaving and you can come or not. He is as much their parent as she is. I think she should have talked it over with him instead of throwing out the ultimatum. Despite this I hope he sticks by her and I will be disappointed of he doesn't. Obviously for the sake of the show it's not likely he's going to leave the MC, maybe the writers are wanting to set aside the wife and kids aspect to his character and make room for other things. One thing I love about this show is that I can never quite figure out what they will do next.

That said about Tara, I'm in no rush to have her out of jail next season, lol

Anyone on Facebook? Just had to share this because the pics are so yummy! Charlie Hunnam is featured in a current issue of Man of the World magazine, if you click on their 'sexiest pics' post you can see lots of very fine pics of our Jax! Sort of James Dean reminiscent I would say.

SONS OF ANARCHY is a series that I keep meaning to watch. However, my memory of Charlie Hunnam is when he played the extremely annoying 15 year Nathan in the British version of QUEER AS FOLK Wink. This is him being at his least annoying in the entire series:

But then, I never thought Andrew Lincoln was hot in THIS LIFE or TEACHERS; or that Hugh Laurie was a sex fiend in BLACKADDER or JEEVES AND WOOSTER. It must be that trip over to US telly which gives British actors that dollop of sexiness Wink...

Oh my goodness! LOL I've only watched the US version of Queer as Folk, I'm not sure I want to see him in the other??

Man, Jax is so hot in Sons, you have to give it a try. Smile At first look he looks like Brad Pitt to me, that guy does nothing for me. I think the character makes the man, in this case, and he seems to have embraced the role. He speaks with an American accent, so maybe that will help you forget the other character. Though every once in a while some brit pops out and it's verra nice. Very Happy

he's all grown up now! lol

The blonde guy from Sons of Anarchy is Nathan from Queer as Folk? Wow, I'd never have guessed. Though to be fair, all I've ever seen of Sons of Anarchy is bits and pieces, while I recorded it for my Dad, figuring that since he rides a motorbike he might appreciate a show about bikers. Of course, my Dad never watched the episodes I recorded.

Xina, I'm pulling this from the Fifty thread and putting it here! Smile

I will Linda. I'm finding that I can't watch a season in 1 or 2 sittings like I did with Downton Abbey. SOA is just so tough to watch at times. I do well with 2 a night.

Totally understandable! I was the same way though after a bit it started to affect me less and I started going in longer stretches because I just had to see a certain storyline play out.

Side note - Charlie Hunnam is in the March issue of Vanity Fair, yum!
