ISO....Looking for suggestions.

Hello all....I'm new here, but definitely not to romance novels. I've been an avid reader for over 20 years. When I say avid, I mean that at any given time I'm always reading one or two books. My favorite genre is historical romance, but I also enjoy romantic suspense, murder/mystery, paranormal and vampires, etc. I look forward to participating here. Smile

Ok, I do have a question. I'm looking for book suggestions for historicals. My main interest at the moment are books that are centered around gambling/gentleman's clubs. Where the hero of the story meets his heroine in one of these clubs. Maybe she works there, or maybe she's just there for whatever reason. I remember reading one years ago, and I can't recall the name of it(or author), but the gentleman's club had an upstairs where the men could take their women, and the hero met a woman in the club...thought she was a whore and proceeded to take her to a room. But she ended up being a lady, and at the club looking for someone. It was a very good read! I'd like suggestions that are similar to this, if anyone can recommend something good.

DREAMING OF YOU by Lisa Kleypas (The hero, Derek Craven runs a gaming hell and I think they had rooms upstairs.)

THE DEVIL IN WINTER by Lisa Kleypas (The heroine, Evie Jenner, inherits her fathers' gaming hell and her husband Sebastian St. Vincent ends up running it.)

ONE NIGHT WITH A PRINCE by Sabrina Jeffries (The hero, Gavin Byrne, one of three bastard sons of the Prince of Wales, owns a gaming hell.)

A number of Lisa Kleypas's books have connections to gambling halls, the two above are both excellent reads. Others include:

Then Came You: The heroine frequently gambles and her game with the hero plays a major role in the story.

Mine Till Midnight: The heroine meets the hero outside of a gambling hall where she's gone to get her brother (the hero works there) but other than this it's not a major focus of the book.

While not technically all part of the same series these books are all interrelated and the same two clubs are featured in all of them (they're also mentioned in several other books but don't play a major role).

Duchess by Night by Eloisa James: This doesn't technically take place in gambling hall or men's club but has a similar feel-the hero is known for the wild men's club like atmosphere at his home and no respectable society woman would attend.

One Night is Never Enough & In Total Surrender by Anne Mallory: The hero's run a number of gambling halls and much of the story's take place there.

Sarah MacLean's current series, although only one's published so far (A Rogue by Any Other Name), is centered around four men who run a gambling club.

Tempting Fortune by Jo Beverley. I don't remember exact details, but I remember the hero is a gambler and the heroine finds herself in a brothel/gambling house.

Jo Goodman's The Price of Desire is an angsty story set in a gaming hell.

Gaelen Foley's Lord of Fire starts out in a Hellfire-type club that the heroine stumbles onto.

Another poster mentioned Sarah Maclean's new series and I read the first book as well and quite liked it. I look forward to the rest of the series.

The Gamble by LaVyrle Spencer. Hero is a gambler and he owns a saloon. Excellent book.

Although not particularly about traditional gambling, I would suggest the following book which is about two confidence "men," except one is a woman.

My Lady's Dare by Gayle Wilson. Hero wins someone else's mistress. It's the first in a series, but I wouldn't bother with the other two.
