What a waste of time. There are so many ways in which you could discuss the subject of romance novels. One would be a sociological approach, asking why they appeal to so many readers. Another would be a literary/aesthetic approach that compares romance novels with other genres or with romances produced in the past. A third would be to look at the romance industry as a business, examining how this affected romance novelists and what they write. This documentary did none of those things. |

| Worse than that, I think from what I saw, that this "documentary" just deepened the stereotypes. Only the sex scenes were read aloud and clearly, only women who lack romance in their lives read romances for their vicarious pleasure. I turned it off when I saw the woman selecting a bon-bon to eat while reading. I think the attitude somehow was one of derision toward this genre. |
