So I've challenged myself to read all the books on Dabney's Ballin' Bodice Ripperslist and was really pleasantly surprised by this author and her book, "Stealing Midnight."
Has anyone read her other books? Are they of equal or very similar calibre? |

Hi! Thanks for the positive words about Stealing Midnight. A friend forwarded me this link with a, "Hey, someone liked your book."
My other books are darker and heavier. If you're not a fan of dark themes and sad girls, maybe they're not for you. My first book, Veiled Promises, has a "big separation" which I found out after it was published was a "big mistake." haha. Don't worry - it's out of print; it can't hurt anyone, now.
My second book, Veiled Desires, is dark and centers on a woman who is, brace yourself, not a virgin. Please read with caution. Emeline is not even ashamed of herself. I had such a good time writing that one.
The third, Veiled Passions, stars a spoiled, stubborn heroine who I absolutely adored, and a hero so delicious I could hardly believe I was able to convey him onto paper. People didn't "get" Kieran, the heroine, the way I did - a total failure on my part to show the woman I saw. That book was an homage to Shanna, the masterpiece by Woodiwiss. I wanted to write a heroine like Shanna - spoiled, beautiful, and selfish, but also good in her heart. Of course, Kieran was also damaged from trauma and a very painful revelation about herself she couldn't accept. I loved that book.
Stealing Midnight was my first attempt to write a more "mainstream" novel, more appealing to the average romance reader. It was released October, 2009, right at the worst part of the economy's collapse. My print run was slashed to a quarter of my previous print runs. The poor novel never stood a chance.
Anyway, I'm pretty unknown as a writer, so I thought I'd answer your question. I'm not really writing (for publication) anymore, but it's still a treat to find out someone read something of mine and enjoyed it. Thank you.
Best regards,

Tracy,
I bought and enjoyed all 4 of your books. In fact, you were on my auto-buy list after the first book! I'm sad to hear that you are no longer being published.
Wish you all the best.

Dear Monica,
Thank you so much. You couldn't possibly have any idea how much that means to me.
I miss writing so badly it hurts. There is some consolation in hearing that what I was doing, the work, the words, meant something to someone.
Thank you again.
