Oh, I love "True Blood"! I never thought I'd enjoy watching a show about vampires, but it's so much fun! Terrific cast, and the writing is first-rate. It sounds like Sookie and Bill will be apart for much of the season, which will give Eric a real opportunity to sink his fangs into Sookie (so to speak!). I will miss Maryanne, though; she was a great villain! _________________ "Have fun storming the castle"--Miracle Max in "The Princess Bride" |

I've been looking forward to this since Lost went off and I've had nothing to watch! I'll miss Maryanne, too, she was indeed a delish villianess, wasn't she? I'm sure Season 3 will roll out some new evils to behold, tho! Can't wait. And Mad Men should be on again soon, too! _________________ Why put off til tomorrow what you can put off until next week? |

I liked the actress but will not miss Maryann, I felt her storyline went on way past it's time in season 2!
With HBO, I add it right before True Blood starts and then cancel it when the series is done for the season. It's a guilty pleasure, I know I'm spending too much money just to watch a show but I enjoy it so much .

We're of like minds. I thought the Maryann actress was great, but I reallllllly got tired of her story last year. So much so, that I'm debating on whether or not to take the show this year. I know she's gone, but I got a bit burned out by the end of the season.
I too take HBO only during that time, so I may still break down & call before tonight. I actually did the same thing during the Sopranos run. LOL |

| How was the season 3 first episode? Hearing what I've heard about Eric, I'm wondering if I need to start watching. Will I be able to figure out what is going on? |

I'm glad she's gone too.
Well, I don't have HBO. Didn't get it because I'm gone so often in the summer. A question...do they replay the episodes in the Fall? Or is it just the one time. _________________ "As you wish"

First ep was awesome! It sure seems from the promos that this is going to be one rockin' season!
Claire - I have season two on DVD if you want me to send them to ya, my own home copies. I bought the season when it officially came out so I don't have to worry about hanging on to them now.
I don't know if they repeat in the fall because I always cancel as soon as the last ep of the season airs. They will repeat the first episode a couple of times before next week I'm pretty sure, if anyone wants to join in at the last minute. You can set it to tape if you're not home.

I so agree! Glad they hit the ground running and touched on just about every storyline. That was one of my pet peeves w/Lost--the fact that weeks would go by and there'd be no mention of certain storylines.
Like I said earlier in the thread, I did love the character Maryann, but I do agree w/the rest of you that stated the maenad storyline was overdone and drawn out. Looks like this season is going to have lots and lots of villianous characters on tap. Good times. _________________ Why put off til tomorrow what you can put off until next week? |

Great opening episode of True Blood, Season 3! Can't wait to see how the werewolves get worked into the story, and I'm also glad that the Vampire Queen is back--Evan Rachel Wood is a terrific actress. Anyone remember her when she was on a show called Once and Again (thank you IMDB.com!)? She was only twelve or thirteen then, but she was (and is) quite talented.
About re-airings of True Blood in the fall: if your cable service has On-Demand (Comcast) or something like it, sometimes you can find older HBO (and other premium cable) programs to watch. For example, you can find episodes of Sex in the City, The Sopranos, and Deadwood, none of which are current HBO shows with the On-Demand service. It's really hit-or-miss as to what HBO On-Demand is airing, so you have to check it out on a regular basis. _________________ "Have fun storming the castle"--Miracle Max in "The Princess Bride" |

They finally put the season 3 premier on Demand and I got to see it. Well, its very different, I'll say that! I think I got a glimpse (and then some ) of what people see in Eric. I like Sookie. And I like the guy who plays Bill- Stephen Moyers. There are a lot of characters in the show so I didn't really know what was going on with some of them and how they all related to one another. In a way, that didn't really matter as it was just entertaining and some of the lines were hysterical- like when that sheriff guy kept saying to Jason "conscious off, d#ck on".
All in all, some of the horror element is just too much for me so I'm not sure how much further I'll watch it. I wish they didn't have to go so far with it- like taking someones heart out. Thats just gross and well, horrifying. I'll see how next weeks episode pans out though.
Who do most people want Sookie with? Eric or Bill? |

Claire, it's pretty violent so if that bothered you then I think it's safe to say that you would be put off by this aspect. It's pretty thick in each season, season one features a serial killer and season two with MaryAnn..well, you saw what happened with the heart, lol.
I love the humor, I think it helps to balance it all out!
Between Eric and Bill there seem to be two camps but I'd say Eric is running strongest right now. He's the 'bad boy' and you know how appealing they can be. *G* I do really like Bill though so I feel constantly torn, I'm happy to have them both to enjoy. I hope Bill remains a strong part of True Blood unlike what has happened to him in the Sookie books.

I was prepared to prefer Eric but Bill was not what I was expecting. He has a strong presence and was not a pushover from what I saw.
The second season is on Demand as well. Are there particular episodes you recommend from last season? Any good Eric ones or Bill ones to compare? |
