Can't remember the title..

Don't you hate it when you JUST can't recall the name of a book you want to reread?

Okay, this is a romance thriller I believe. It involves a crook who had a near death experience (and also a terminal brain cancer?) and actually believes he briefly went to hell. It completely changes him and he tries to act like Jesus to try to earn his way to heaven. But of course, it gets twisted and he starts believing he needs to kidnap people to represent the Apostles.

The heroine is a news reporter, latina descent, I pretty sure her first name is January or July, definitely a month name. The last is deLena or daLena, I think(it's an important clue to something later on in the story)? The hero, as typical of these kinds of stories, is one of the detectives on the case.

Despite all this info, I STILL can't find a single hit even close to the book I read. Does someone know the name? It came out in the last few years.

It's a Sharon Sala book titled The Chosen. I remember enjoying it. It's one of the few Sharon Sala books where the heroine doesn't have the worst possible past imaginable.

I love when I actually know one of these. It's so rare.

That's it! Thank you so much! Haha, I often read Sala but she's not an autobuy for me so I guess that's how it slipped my mind. =D

And lol, that's true about a lot of her heroines -- my favorite book by her is Sweet Baby.
