Help me find name of 80s historical romance!

This is a long shot...

I read this book in the 80s. It was a romance novel and not a harlequin romance or serial of any kind.

The heroine was terrified to have sex because she had seen her mom raped and killed(?). I don't think that she was raped but possibly(?).

The hero has to help her get over her fear. For some reason...I think they were friends..maybe childhood friends(?).

I'm sorry...I can't really remember much.

This sounds a bit like Mary Jo Putney's Veils of Silk except it is the father who dies. The mother and father are passionate Russians who fight and love loudly. During one of the fights, the father dies and the daughter is deeply afraid of passion. She marries a man who is impotent after being a prisoner of war and helps him heal. The relationship becomes a struggle when he develops passion for her.

Excellent book.

That does sound like a great book but unfortunately it is not the one.

I don't remember much about the book that I am looking for but the I am sure about the info that I have written.

I wish I could remember more! Sad
