Electronic adapters

I'm going to Scotland next month (can't wait!). I was looking at some adapters in Target this weekend and they have some that say they're good for parts of the UK. Which parts???!!! I'm sure that someone here will have some good advice for me. I need to be able to keep my kindle charged.....and use my curling iron, of course.
