I'm looking for books where either the herione's family or her future/current in-laws are a bunch of meanies.
Cinderella-esque, but she doesn't have to be super sweet and kind. Thanks so much for anyone who can help! |

A number of Julie Garwood's older historicals fit this: The Gift, Honor's Splendor, Ransom, The Secret
Slightly Wicked by Mary Balogh (heroine is stuck serving as a companion for her wealthy aunt)
Simply Love by Mary Balogh (both of their families have been cruel to them)
Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas
Diana Palmer's books almost all follow this theme-the poor heroine was abused as a child and is rescued by the wealthy hero. |
