Im looking forward to reading some books in the following categories:
1. H grovels for hurting h in the past
i've read After the Night by Linda Howard, and i loved it, but i found some books where the hero grovels (like kiss an angel)
2. h is a virgin/prude spinster, H is a rich playboy who was rude/ or believed the h is insignificant to him, but then voila, some event forces him to realize that the h is his soulmate, and becomes obsessive with her. (not stalkerish, but scares off suitors, becomes the knight in shining armor for him)
3. H is rich playboy, and h is a loved widow with child(ren)
I hope there are books that are like this. Pls no fantasy, or paranormal stories.
And hopefully these recommendations will keep me company for the next few months.
Thanks! |

Lady Gallant by Suzanne Robinson has a great hero groveling at the end if you can get past some of his idiotic moments to heroine. Some of the language bothered me but other than that it probably is the best grovel from a hero. _________________ Romance my favorite reading pastime. |

For the first category:
Lady Gallant by Suzanne Robinson (must be readers' favorite in terms of groveling)
To Have and To Hold by Patricia Gaffney (fits the bill of having a rich playboy)
Uncommon Vows by Mary Jo Putney
The recent At Your Pleasure by Meredith Duran |

I'm going to recommend a different Meredith Duran book, and by far my favorite of her novels: Bound by Your Touch. No groveling, but I think it might fit your #2 requirement. Here's the description, courtesy of Amazon:
Lydia Boyce... is a spinster with sophisticated interests, for she knows that an unblemished reputation is the only protection in a judgmental world. But when a mysterious forgery threatens to sully her family and her father’s legacy, she finds her only hope for salvation in a man who has no use for the rules of good society—or those who follow them. The Viscount Sanburne is a society darling, but a dark past has left him aimless and uninterested in anything but self-destructive amusement. He has no interest in a bluestocking bent on justice—until she flashes a dimple, and he realizes that corrupting her might prove as pleasurable as scandalizing her does. |

I second for your #2 description you will find in To Have and To Hold by Patricia Gaffney. Really good and hero does have regrets and a healthy obsession to protect heroine later. _________________ Romance my favorite reading pastime. |

Every Judith McNaught book ever written?
Lady Gallant is pretty much the obvious choice here. You can also try If You Deceive by Kresley Cole (it's one of her non-PNR titles).

SEP's Heaven, Texas? There's definitely some grovelling, too.
(I must confess I hated that book)

Two Little Lies by Liz Carlyle might fit this one, also Silk is for Seduction by Loretta Chase - though I'm not quite sure what you mean by loved widow. Loved by her dead husband? By her kids? By small woodland creatures like in a Disney film?
Catherine Melbourne in Shattered Rainbows is a widow with a daughter, but I don't think I'd classify Michael as a playboy.
Happy reading |

| Oh, If You Deceive by Kresley Cole is a good choice! I never read the others in the MacCarrick series, but this one was very entertaining. |

I think Marceline Noirot in Silk Is For Seduction loved her late husband, but he's not mentioned much in the book.
There's Francesca Bridgerton Stirling in When He Was Wicked by Julia Quinn, but she doesn't have kids. |

That is a good question, because Viviana in Two Little Lies isn't a widow in love with her late husband.
The Notorious Rake by Mary Balogh fits this category, although there are no children (and ditto the Julia Quinn book suggested by someone else). Both are widows who had happy marriages.

I just thought of another possibility with this theme that was really good. Black Silk by Judith Ivory
Historical Romance:
The H is a rich playboy very social has parties is a sportsman. The widow though has no children does sort of live her life as a tribute to her late husband and is very serious and considered a social outcast in comparison to the H. It was a good read Judith Ivory is a great author. _________________ Romance my favorite reading pastime. |
