Anyone Know this Title of a Highlands Historical Romance

I'm rubbish with names, titles etc but OK with plots which means I'll remember the story but not where it came from - as in this case.

It was definitely (I think) a Highlands setting where the heroine is having to marry because "supposedly" (those were important quotations by the way) she was betrothed to the hero's brother (who I think was the original heir - this too is important info) even though.....she's UGLY (actually it's just very bad eczema I think, so yes sort of but still). However she's rich so you know... it's all good. Anyway what actually happened is said brother was toying with heroine's young cousin (I think, some relative anyway) and fell/pushed down a cliff to his death ("supposed" can go here too...dum dum DUM!) and no-one wants the family to know there was foul play. They wed, journey North and here's where I'm not sure if I'm muddling with a second book but possibly one of the men has a dog and fleas and she forces them to bathe, also Hero has a long embrace and smooch with mistress in front of EVERYONE (and their dog!) however later he does not go through with actual adultery (which would've been a no-no for me). The keep's divided because the brother was meant to inherit, there are some letters of an incriminating nature that the heroine brings along, the brother isn't dead, a maid/trusted servant is in collusion, kidnapping occurs (of heroine I think it was), rescue of enemy/neighbour clans son leads to an alliance and eventually the not quite a rapist brother who we assumed was evil isn't evil but loved the Hero's first wife in a crazy passionate I blame you for her death type of way. Uhmmm.... I think that's all.(!)

This could be two stories not one but any help would be great. If I recall other stuff I'll add it to the post.
