"Paperback" is more often going to refer to "mass market" paperback -- what most of us think of when we think of a paperback book.
"Trade" paperback are the larger ones, usually twice the price of the standard paperback, and used more often for "literature" or as step between hardcover and mass market. Trade papers are supposed to be more sturdily constructed -- higher grade paper, etc. -- but a lot of readers find them awkward/uncomfortable to handle.
