Very, very excited! I'm in London and I had originally planned to travel into the city and join the crowds in the streets, but transport is going to be a nightmare. I'd much rather be at home eating sandwiches and cake, drinking tea, and watching it all on the telly! Laughing

I just read on Facebook that my daughter is camping out on the Buckingham Palace lawn with some expats (whatever that word means). Sounds like she has a pretty good view. Maybe she'll even get some photos. She did say it was cold outside and soon to rain.

I find it odd that Fergie (Sarah, Duchess of York..not the singer Smile ) is not invited. That just seems strange.
I didn't think it strange seeing as she recently tried to extort money from someone with promises she could get him facetime with her ex.

I appreciated that the BBC didn't comment much during the ceremony, but I had no clue who many of the audience members they were showing were.

Kate's dress was very pretty. Not as ornate as I would have expected, but she looked nice.

Hope your daughter had a good view, Tee.

I really liked Kate's dress. I liked that it was slim and classic. It reminded me of Grace Kelly's dress and also the dress worn by Maria in The Sound of Music.

I hated the dress Diana wore when she got married. It was so outrageously poofy and overwhelming.

I also thought Pippa looked fabulous.

Well, everybody did! Except Andrew's daughters, I'm sad to say, although my primary objection is to the hat one of the girls was wearing. Beatrice, I think. http://www.catwalkqueen.tv/2011/04/royal_wedding_f.html

I thought the exact same thing about Grace Kelly's dress, the lace and cut of the collar were very similar. I thought it was elegant and lovely. Princess Kate did a beautiful job. Everything from the crown to the shoes was tasteful and elegant.

I'm curious to see if this helps to change the all strapless thing that has been going on with wedding dresses for the past several years.

I absolutely adore lace on wedding dresses, I thought Kate looked a vision! Absolutely stunning gown.

Loved the gown and the lace veil. It did seem very Gracy Kelly'ish. I think it will stand the test of time.

Pippa was stunning in that bridesmaid dress and then holding hands with the little girls. That was adorable. The whole ceremony was just beautiful. And what about when William mouthed the words "you look beautiful" when she got up to the alter? If thats not straight out of a romance novel, I don't know what is! They are definitely a love match. Now the kiss could have lasted a little longer. Wink

That is just atrocious. I have soooo many problems with the overall look. First of all, she's a redhead, and that means that the only color she has is in her hair. So why would she wear nude/flesh-tone? I don't think it generally looks good on anyone, but I have to say it's particularly unflattering here. In the the pictures, at least.

I'm not in love with the collar/upper part of the jacket. It's very matronly, I think, but it IS kind of interesting...or could be. I do think I'd probably have liked it better in a different color. I bet she'd look lovely in a slate-blue or some color like that.

But that hat! OMG! I'm a fan of Stargate SG1, and every time I saw her I kept thinking of one of the Goa'ulds. You know...Hathor. Can't find a good pic from the series, but here's a typical Hathor depiction: http://historylink101.net/hathor_1.jpg

See the resemblance??

I do see the resemblance. It looks like antlers of some sort. I just saw on your link the picture of her sister who doesn't look much better in that royal blue and it looks like she has grapes in a bowl on her head. I never knew how important hats were at weddings in Britain. Some of them looked completely ridiculous. One lady had what looked like a plate sideways on her head. One commentator I heard was a little put out that the prime ministers wife didn't wear a hat. I did like the mother of the brides hat and outfit. You would think that when people have as much money as they do, that someone would help them pick their clothes- I'm talking about Beatrice and sister.

Ah, Prince Andrew's daughters. I guess we all have the relatives with no fashion sense, it seems law that there be one in every family but wow! Most of them are a bit better than these gals. I shudder to think of what they will wear at their own weddings. . . .

These girls have a very wealthy father. He should spring for a fashion adviser . . . . . .

Catherine looked stunning - I especially liked the neckline and the lacework, just lovely. Great tiara too. I read that she did her own makeup, and it was perfect!

Also looking good: Pippa Middleton* (I bet her dress will inspire many future brides!) and the rest of the Middleton family, the bridesmaids and pageboys, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, and Ian Thorpe. Charlene Wittstock is stunning and I'm sure she'll be a lovely royal bride in two months' time.

The Yorkies are priceless and must never change!

* the little girl on the right side of the picture is Eliza Lopes, Camilla's granddaughter. Isn't she adorable?

The ceremony was gorgeous, everything you'd expect from the British royals. However, I'm can't say I'm in total awe of the couple. I mean, William used to be very handsome, and he looks more and more like his pops Rolling Eyes Kate is very pretty, especially in that elegant dress, but she lacks Diana's charisma. On the other hand, she'll probably fit into the royal family better. The senior royals must be happy with her.

I promised myself I wouldn't bother with this but I soon as I tuned the channel to BBCA I was sucked in. There is none better than the Brits in terms of pomp and circumstance, and pageantry, etc., etc. I agree, the BBC has the best coverage. There's not a lot of yapping going on. Also, no one asked eye-rolling questions about line of succession or who one should curtesy to. I mean really, Barbara Walters? Also, did anyone noticed the word "obey" was not part of the vows. I kinda like that. Very modern indeed! LOL!

Also, what do you think the Queen thinks about when they start singing "God Bless The Queen"? (which they did and the cameras panned to her for a while, she looked very solemn)

Loved the ceremony and the balcony kisses - especially Prince William's furious blush afterwards Wink. Adorable. It's the small things like that that I really loved. And after the thing was over and they relaxed a bit more, they really did look like a really happy couple. And looking at how gorgeous Kate is, William did very well for himself.

And the dress. Wow - how many copycat dresses will this have spawned?

OK, Kate and William are not the most exciting couple but that's probably a good thing all things considered - nice and dull is the way forward for the Royals. Could you imagine what it would have been like with Prince Harry and Chelsy? Mind boggles. Although, have to say that Harry and Pippa need to get it on at the reception after his best man speech Wink.

"Also, what do you think the Queen thinks about when they start singing "God Bless The Queen"?"

Probably extremely bored. She's been hearing it for 59 years and, let's be honest, it's hardly the most scintillating national anthem. Not enough spilling of the blood of your enemies. However, it seems to have worked given that she's 85 years old and will be celebrating the diamond jubilee of her reign next year.

I actually met (as in was in the same room as) the Queen in my teenage republican phase when she visited my school during our centenary celebrations. I refused to courtsey. I don't think she noticed.
