Wild Love
Grade : B+

I’ve been hearing about Wild Love all over social media and, after reading it, I can see why. I absolutely devoured it. It’s the first book in the Rose Hill series about four single dads living in Rose Hill, a small lake town in the Canadian Rockies and I really enjoyed it!

Ford Grant has just been named the World’s Hottest Billionaire by Forbes and has escaped to Rose Hill to get away from the paparazzi. He has a lakefront home next door to his best friend Weston (West). Ford has been secretly in love with West’s sister Rosalie (Rosie) for years but he was very shy when he was younger and couldn't tell her how he felt. She has recently returned home from working in the city and he offers her a job working for him as his manager. Ford needs help setting up his new recording studio and production company in an old barn next to his home. His father is a world famous guitar player so he has grown up around the music business. Ford became successful by founding a streaming service app and producing a successful album. He enjoys the creativity of making songs come to life, especially in beautiful Rose Hill, and he wants to produce another album.

He gets a BIG surprise when twelve year old Cora comes knocking at his door and tells him he’s her father. He remembers a time in college when he sold his sperm at a sperm bank so he could go to a concert to see his favorite band. She's come to Ford because she needs help and doesn't know what else to do. Her dad recently died of ALS and her mom is clinically depressed. When she learned her parents had used a sperm donor, she found Ford with a DNA match. She asks Ford for his help and, after talking to her mom, he becomes her temporary guardian until her mom is well. He helps her mom get settled in a mental health treatment facility and welcomes Cora into his home. Cora sparkles with her snarky comments and her story pulled on my heartstrings.

Rosie is a hoot--she is SASSY! She and Ford are smitten with each other and tension builds in the office while they exchange witty banter and more. Some of the funniest moments are found in the hilarious emails they send to each other. Ford worries about getting involved with Rosie because they work together but Rosie’s brother encourages them. He is supportive of his sister and best friend falling in love (which I found refreshing). Rosie recently broke up with her boyfriend because he was too safe. What she longs for is a wild love, where it hurts to breathe when you get too far away. Ford is just the man for her. Together, they are steamy in the best ways.

Rosie is recovering from an incident at her job where her boss touched her inappropriately while she was doing a presentation. When she got mad and threatened to report him to HR, he got to HR first, and she was fired for supposable subpar performance. When Ford finds out what happened to Rosie, he wants to take revenge on her boss but she says she’ll handle it herself. I don’t want to reveal what happens next but it’s pretty sneaky and devious and I loved it.

The story has lots of small town feels. We see Rosie and Cora having good times as they spend evenings together when Ford is with West at their single dads' bowling league. Cora meets her famous grandfather who teaches her guitar and Willa, Ford’s sister (from Heartless). Cora bonds with Ford as they cook s'mores over a campfire. My only complaint is that the story moves slowly in parts and, at times, felt a little long.

Wild Love is perfect for readers looking for a single dad, small town romance in a beautiful lake setting with tons of witty banter. Added plus - there’s no third act breakup! And for readers who like smokin' hot love scenes, this book is Silver's hottest yet. It gets a B+ from me.
